4 Signs Your Bespoke Website Design Might Need Improving

When it comes to deciding if a website needs improving, a lot of people focus on affordable SEO. Though SEO is hugely important – after all, it’s how your website will be found amongst the sea of competitors online – there are other website design mistakes to be aware of. Here are some of the key signs that your bespoke website design might need improving.

Is Your Website Guilty of Any of These Ecommerce Website Design Mistakes?

  1. It Uses Colour Poorly – Choosing which colours to use on a website is key, but it’s important to remember that sometimes, less is more. A lot of ecommerce website design results in too much colour being used, which can make the entire page feel busy and overwhelming. It can also make it hard to read the text. It’s important to find the balance between using the right amount of colour, but also not having too much white space. A website should be bright and bold, vibrant and engaging, without being too much.
  2. It’s Not Compatible – If you know anything about bespoke website design, you will know that being compatible is key. It’s one of the first things that a web health check will highlight. Incompatibility between a mobile website and a desktop website is a huge problem for many businesses, and failure to use a responsive design can really hold you back online. A website should be easy to use regardless of the device it’s being viewed on, whether that’s a large computer screen or a small smartphone. It’s important that images, text and graphics all change to fit the screen that’s being used, ensuring that everyone gets the same high quality website experience.
  3. No Calls to Action – Calls to action are there to encourage people to get in touch with your business, or to find out more about a product or service. Sometimes, all it takes is someone seeing a call to action and they are encouraged to get in touch. But, if a website doesn’t have any calls to action or if they are hard to find, users might take their business elsewhere. There should be a call to action on every page, enabling users to easily get in touch from wherever they are on the website.
  4. Poor Search Feature – When someone visits a website, they want to be able to find what they are looking for quickly. In fact, most people want to find information within a matter of seconds. They might want to search for a specific product or service, or for a specific piece of information. A poor search function, or no search function whatsoever, can make it extremely difficult for website visitors to find what they’re looking for. This can make using the website time consuming.

It’s not the end of the world if your website is guilty of these mistakes, as they are all problems that can be changed, which will have an instant impact on the useability and success of your website.
